Cision Expands and Upgrades JournalistTweets with New Alert Service and Feeds from Five Additional Countries

Twitter Aggregation and Sorting Service Provides Real-Time Monitoring of Tweets from Journalists, Freelancers, Bloggers, and Broadcasters Around the World

CHICAGO, IL and LONDON, ENGLAND, September 1, 2009 – Cision, the global provider of media research, distribution, monitoring, and analysis services to the public relations industry and other communication professionals, today announced a major upgrade and expansion of JournalistTweets, adding feeds from five additional countries and creating a free alert service that notifies users by email or RSS whenever a journalist posts a tweet that contains a key word or phrase.

JournalistTweets, powered by Cision, is a free, web-based service that aggregates and sorts Twitter content generated by thousands of journalists worldwide.

Thousands of new feeds from Germany, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, and Norway augment the original JournalistTweets feeds from journalists in the U.K., Sweden, and North America. The North American service – which already provided additional content-specific monitoring of tweets from journalists specializing in business, entertainment, health and technology ¬– now also offers separate feeds for the U.S. and Canada.

“JournalistTweets demonstrates how Cision’s world-class media database, which catalogues thousands of journalists’ Twitter handles and other information, can be integrated with global platforms like Twitter to ‘cut through the chatter’ and improve the flow of information among communicators, journalists and key influencers,” said Peter Granat, CEO of Cision Europe. “It lets journalists, PR and other communication professionals quickly exchange information by tweeting links and commentary as they research stories and posts.”

With multiple feeds delivering real-time tweets from reporters, freelancers, bloggers and broadcasters, JournalistTweets is the first service to aggregate and sort journalists’ Twitter content by both geography and areas of interest. Users can view content from “top tweeters” and search all journalists’ names and content of Twitter streams to quickly identify key individuals and issues. Users can also respond to tweets directly from the JournalistTweets site.

Building on Cision’s award-winning expertise in creating platforms to connect media and communication professionals, JournalistTweets was developed as a networking tool, allowing journalists to discover new connections in their own industry and providing PR professionals with real-time intelligence about journalists’ interests. JournalistTweets was developed by CisionLabs, a collaboration of Cision media research and technology teams in London, Chicago, Stockholm and Coimbra, Portugal.

“The addition of alerts and country feeds will enhance an already highly valued service,” said Joe Bernardo, President and CEO of Cision North America. “JournalistTweets has reinforced Cision’s role as a meeting place for PR professionals, communicators and journalists.”
