Thanks to the ongoing advancements of technology, creating a high quality video is no longer an expensive or arduous process. In fact, it has become a common form of content marketing used by PR professionals.
Not only are videos incredibly engaging they are also far more efficient at transmitting information than either text or images. The numbers speak for themselves:
- By 2016, video user numbers are expected to double to 1.5 billion
- Online video traffic will make up 55 percent of consumer traffic by 2016
- YouTube has more than 1 billion unique visits per month
- 76 percent of marketers and PR professionals plan to add videos to their site.
Implementing a video campaign isn’t necessarily easy and even if you create an amazing video, it isn’t guaranteed to go viral. Here are some tips that will increase the likelihood of your video content reaching a wider audience.
- Tell your story – People want stories that resonate, not just facts and figures. People are more moved to action when they can form an emotional connection to these visual stories.
- Keep it short – One of the main reasons video has surged in popularity is because people can consume more information in a short amount of time. In general, videos should be four minutes or less and should only cover topics that will have the biggest impact on your audience.
- Improve shareability – You can easily embed videos onto almost any platform from blogs to Facebook. While you don’t necessarily need to share every video you create, you should definitely embed the best ones on social media and your blog. It’s an excellent way to improve visibility.
If you’re just getting started with social videos, the infographic below can provide information on the top video services and the best way to utilize them.
