One thing that has always amazed me about PRWeb is the passion and loyalty of its users. I’d venture to say if there’s a highly engaged community, PRWeb has earned one.
Standup comedian John J. Powers is a great example and we reached out to him after he posted this YouTube video – The Hand-Off – Social Media Edition – which is partly a review of PRWeb and partly comedy. It’s always fascinating to talk to customers to find out how they learned about the service and how they are using it – for example check out these five customer developed videos.
John first learned about PRWeb in 2010. A friend had told him about Help A Reporter Out (HARO), the network built by Peter Shankman and acquired by Vocus earlier that same year. He subscribed to HARO and in one of its email newsletters he found a coupon for PRWeb, and decided to give it a try.
He logged into PRWeb and told me that in just in 10-15 minutes he had a press release ready to be published. John says as a result, his website “traffic doubled, maybe even tripled.”
What stood out for him was the ability to track and see the results. As a comedian competing against many others in the New York City, he knows many “people in my position would like to get exposure in social media and we don’t know how – that’s why we do this.”
We’d like to see John get ahead, and after seeing the video, we thought an appropriate way to thank him was to give him a free release to promote his next show. He presents a comedy routine one Saturday a month at the EastVille Comedy Club.
