journalisttweets-logoAs Twitter has grown in popularity, sifting through large quantities of tweets to find what’s truly relevant or useful has become more challenging. A popular search term can generate hundreds of results per minute, or even more during a major news event. If only you could search the tweets of just a select group of influential users to get the latest insights.

JournalistTweets.com, launched in May by Cision as the first site to aggregate tweets from journalists by country and topic area, has now introduced a free keyword alert service. Available via e-mail or RSS, the feature allows users to choose a keyword to monitor amongst the tweets of thousands of journalists around the globe. The idea is to help you cut through the noise of the larger Twitter community and see what top reporters, editors, bloggers and broadcasters are saying about any topic.

We’ve also introduced new feeds breaking out North American journalists by country and covering additional countries in Europe, including Germany, Portugal, Denmark, Finland and Norway. More countries are coming soon.

As before, you can tweet back to or retweet a journalist within the site. Simply click the gray arrow below any tweet. Or, click the blue “t” button and enter your Twitter login to follow that journalist from your Twitter account. JournalistTweets does not store your login info.

As Twitter continues to grow as a marketplace of ideas, efficient social media monitoring has become a bigger challenge. Isolating information from specific groups of people has become essential for busy professional communicators.
