Cision’s Top 50 Rich Media Social Influencers List Released

List goes beyond Facebook and Twitter to highlight marketing experts on rich media social networks, including Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube and Vine

CHICAGO (Jan. 14, 2015) –  Cision, a leading provider of cloud-based public relations and social software, today released its Top 50 Rich Media Social Influencers to follow on Twitter list.

Today’s social media includes a much larger focus on video, audio and images, known as rich media elements. Although Facebook and Twitter are staples in the modern day PR practitioner’s repertoire, the rising popularity of social networks dedicated to rich media, such as Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube and Vine, cannot be ignored.

In the past year alone, young adults have increased time spent on Instagram. Pinterest drives more referral traffic than Twitter and Reddit combined. Digital video viewing, often on mobile, has grown from 13 minutes per day in 2012 to roughly 27 minutes today. Communicators must use audio and visual content to attract and retain audiences—and ultimately, succeed online.

Influencers on this list vary from the leading experts on the different rich media social networks to Pinterest gurus with dynamic pin boards. Their diverse backgrounds include entrepreneurs, authors, executives, podcasters, bloggers and public relations professionals from the U.S. and Canada.

Influence was determined through Cision’s “Influencer Search” algorithm and by receiving a high score in relevancy (the volume of on-topic tweets related to rich media), timeliness (recent tweets related to the topic), engagement (retweets, replies and mentions), and cone of influence (connection to other influencers in the space).
