Amid the announcement of an impending staff reduction, Yahoo has announced it will shutter nine of its niche verticals. Those sites on the chopping block include: Food, Autos, Health, Music, Parenting, Makers, Travel and Real Estate. Much of this content will be merged in to Yahoo’s primary content areas going forward, which include News, Sports, Finance and Lifestyle. While some staff will move to the remaining verticals, some editorial staff with the phased out sites will be laid off as a result.
