Lori Rackl has been named travel editor for the Chicago Tribune, stepping into the post vacated by Ross Werland who took a buyout at the end of 2015. Rackl previously served as a TV critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 2011 until February 2015, when she accepted a buyout. She had been a travel reporter, health reporter and travel columnist for the paper before that joining the Sun-Times in 2004. Her prior experience also includes serving as a local government reporter for the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She was most recently worked as a freelance writer since March 2015.
