The Atlantic has promoted Yoni Appelbaum to Washington bureau chief, in an effort to expand its politics and policy coverage. Appelbaum had been the politics editor at the outlet since January, and was previously a lecturer at Harvard University. The Atlantic has also hired Kaveh Waddell as an associate editor to covering digital privacy and cybersecurity. He was previously a staff correspondent at the National Journal for the past year, after joining that outlet as a strategic research advisor.
