Jim Simon and Michele Matassa Flores have both been promoted to new positions at The Seattle Times. Simon will now serve as managing editor for local news. He was previously the deputy managing editor with the publication since August 2013. Simon joined the paper in January 1985. Matassa Flores is now the deputy managing editor, overseeing entertainment. Most recently, she was the assistant managing editor for entertainment since October 2013.
