Al Anstey has replaced interim CEO Ehab Al Shihabi at Al Jazeera America, who held the position since the network launched in August 2013. Anstey was previously managing director of Al Jazeera English since 2010. Prior to joining Al Jazeera in 2005, he was head of foreign news at ITN. Al Jazeera America also named Amjad Atallah  executive vice president of content. He was previously regional director for Al Jazeera Media Network since April 2012. Before that, he was Washington bureau chief for Al Jazeera English since 2011.
