The New York Times has promoted styles fashion editor Alexandra Jacobs to fashion critic and features writer. Suzy Menkes, who served 26 years as international fashion editor for The International New York Times (previously known as the International Herald Tribune), has left the publication to serve in the same role for Vogue’s international Web editions, and will be based in Conde Nast’s London office. Replacing Menkes and former chief fashion critic Cathy Horyn in July is Vanessa Friedman. Friedman will serve as fashion director and critic joining from the Financial Times, where she was the first to hold the fashion editor position.
