Halloween is already in swing even with the first day of fall still several days away. As the time for fun harvest decorations and spooky ornaments gets underway, crafting bloggers are flexing their fingers for the season. Here’s a few bloggers inVocus is highlighting this season, with some tips from the bloggers themselves:

Close to Home: Already into the season, blogger Maria Long recently featured fall décor centerpieces on her blog. Generally, she also shares food, do-it-yourself crafts, recipes, reviews and runs contests. During this time of year, she likes to feature home décor, or “food to resemble the season,” she noted. In pitches, she looks for ideas and crafts she can give her family, or something she can eat.

Growing Up Gabel: From Mason jar pencil holders, to scrapbooking and desserts, this domestic lifestyle blog already features Halloween treats for the season and lists each holiday by category. “As far as crafting, I really like to sew and knit this time of year,” said blogger Camille Gabel in an email interview. “I’m usually looking for crafts I can make to give as gifts in December, as well as use around my home to decorate for fall and then Christmas. I love crafts I can do with my kids as well—especially if those can also be given as gifts in December.”

Quilted Cupcake: With a focus on fabric and yarn creations, this blog features projects from homemade table cloths to pillows, and features reviews, advice and detailed photographs. “I like to explore all types of crafts, from knit and crochet to sewing, quilting, scrapbooking and mixed media. One of my latest favorites is repurposed art—taking a vintage item and using it in a new way,” said blog owner Jean Kake in an email interview. “I’m big into Halloween right now—mostly home decor projects. There has been an explosion in Halloween crafts lately, and I love it. I just made a great Halloween tutu for my studio mannequin.”

Stockpiling Moms: Bloggers Melissa Jennings and Shelley King create crafts and feature recipes, home and garden, health and beauty topics, while also providing tips on couponing and product reviews. For the Halloween/fall season, they like to feature crafting and do-it-yourself posts, plus recipes that fit the season.
