Jim Wilke produces and hosts “Jazz Northwest” on KPLU, and “Jazz After Hours” on Public Radio International. His shows attract a broad audience of men and women 18 to 50-plus. While “Jazz After Hours” can be heard on public-radio stations throughout the U.S., “Jazz Northwest” is specifically targeted toward active musicians in the Pacific Northwest, from Portland, Ore., to Vancouver, British Columbia.
Press releases should pertain to jazz music. Pitch him by e-mail; he accepts high-resolution images and attachments. “A follow-up e-mail perhaps first and then a phone call,” he says. Press materials should be received the “last week of the preceding month,” Wilke says.
“Jazz Northwest” airs Sundays from 1 to 2 p.m. on KPLU-FM, an NPR station located on the campus of Pacific Lutheran University in Seattle, Wash. “Jazz After Hours” airs weekends from midnight to 5 a.m. and is produced by Minneapolis-based Public International Radio, an independent nonprofit corporation and managing partner of American Public Radio LLC.
