Simone Orendain writes general news reports for the local editions of the NPR programs “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered.” “The local content goes during the morning drive and afternoon-drive shows,” Orendain says. “It becomes part of the national clock, but it’s only heard in our listening area.”
The station targets a public radio audience, which is typically highly educated individuals 29 and up. Press releases must have a very specific subject line. “If you can put the best succinct description in the subject line, then we would be more likely to open [it],” Orendain says. Pitch her by e-mail at news(at)wfae.org; she does NOT accept high-resolution images or attachments. Send press materials before noon. Follow-up calls are discouraged.
WFAE-FM is a News/Talk public radio station serving the Charlotte, N.C. area.
