The Los Angeles Times has announced that Melody Petersen will be joining its ranks as a business reporter covering the aerospace industry on Aug. 26. Peterson previously served as an investigative reporter with a focus on education for The Orange County Register.
Meanwhile, the LA Times also said farewell to two on staff as sports editor Mike James announced his retirement, and investigative reporter Robert Faturechi jumps ship to ProPublica. James has served as the sports editor for the paper since July 2009. He joined the paper in 2006 as a deputy sports editor after stints producing and editing sports content for Fox Sports Net. Faturechi will join ProPublica on Aug. 25 as a reporter, and is expected to focus on campaign finance. He had covered county news and technology for the LA Times since 2009, and was previously a reporter for The Sacramento Bee. For more, follow the Los Angeles Times on Twitter.
