Michael Schaffer has been named editor for The Washingtonian. He will take over for Garrett M. Graff on July 28. Schaffer is currently the editorial director for The New Republic, serving in this role since June 2012. He also had previous stints as editor of Washington City Paper, and reporting roles at The Philadelphia Inquirer and U.S. News & World Report.
