Veteran staffer David Schechter has vacated his post as senior planning editor at CNN, a position he held since 2006. During his tenure with the network, Schechter worked in a variety of editorial roles, including national weekend editor (1989-1986), Washington bureau coordinator on the national desk (1988-2004), and manager of Washington-Southeast region on national desk (2004-2006). He joined CNN as a producer for the Jerusalem bureau in 1985.
