HandsImaginationCreativityPresident of Geben Communication and prTini founder Heather Whaling sat down with us to talk innovation and creativity in public relations. According to Holmes Report, 67 percent of respondents say they believe the PR industry is lagging when it comes to innovation.

How can you take your campaigns to the next level? Heather offers several ideas, including:

Influencer Marketing: Instead of just paying an influencer to write content, ask them to co-host an event, join an advisory panel or take over your social media channels for a day.

Conduct Study: During a slow news time, this is a great way to generate coverage. You can use the data for a long-form report, send the findings to media contacts and turn it into several pieces of content.

Timely Infographics: If you do conduct a study, an infographic is one of the pieces of content that can be produced from it. Do you have other unique data to share that can be packaged in an infographic? Whaling has tied infographics to events – such as the Olympics and baseball season – to generate the most interest.
