O’Brien had a long and illustrious journalism career that started as an assistant editor to Andy Warhol at Interview magazine. He also spent time at Rolling Stone as New York bureau chief, Oui magazine, and High Times, where he was editor at large. He also co-founded Spin magazine. He most recently was a columnist at GQ.
