The Associated Press recently announced Brian Carovillano and David Scott were appointed to new top editor roles. Carovillano, who previously served as vice president overseeing U.S. news, is now managing editor. He’s held several editorial roles at the AP, including Asia-Pacific news director in Bangkok, editor overseeing southern U.S. news in Atlanta, editor overseeing northern California news in San Francisco, and reporter. Scott has been named deputy managing editor of operations. He most recently was the political editor in Washington, D.C., and has served as editor for central regional news in Chicago, news editor in Raleigh, North Carolina, desk editor in Kansas City, Missouri, and business writer in St. Louis since beginning at the AP in 1999.
