Fortune has promoted Alan Murray to the newly created role of president. Murray has been serving as both the editor in chief of Fortune and chief content officer at Time, Inc. since being promoted to the latter role in July 2016; he will continue to to serve as the chief content officer of Time, Inc. in addition to his new role. Replacing Murray as editor in chief is Clifton Leaf who has been the magazine’s deputy managing editor since 2014. Prior to that he was the assistant managing editor for a year.
