Gawker Media has been sold to Univision Holdings and Gawker.com has been shut down; Univision will continue to operate the rest of the Gawker-affiliated sites and the site’s founder and CEO Nick Denton has left the company now that the sale is final. Most of the site’s former staff will shift to the still-operating sites, including:
- Alex Pareene, Hamilton Nolan, Ashley Feinberg and Jordan Sargent, who are headed to Deadspin.
- Kelly Stout, Rich Juzwiak, Gabrielle Bluestone, Brendan O’Connor and Hannah Gold, who will move to Jezebel.
- J.K. Trotter, Marina Galperina and Hudson Hongo will shift to Gizmodo.
Additionally, former staff writer Andy Cush will move to to SPIN magazine starting in Sept. 6. Follow Deadspin on Twitter.

The bright light in all this is that our colleagues at Jezebel, Kotaku, Deadspin, Gizmodo, Lifehacker, and Jalopnik have found a great home!

Gawker was my dream job & I got to work with some of the funniest, smartest people I've ever met & there's nothing anyone can do about that.

Despite the circumstances, very excited that @jktrotter @mfortki and @hudsonhongo are gonna be at Gizmodo!

I’ll be starting as a senior writer at @SPINmagazine September 6. I’ll be doing a lot of the same sorts of things I do now, plus music.
