The Los Angeles Times is undergoing some staff changes, with a few mid-career journalists leaving and others arriving. These changes include:
- Jason Song leaves his role as an education reporter. He will begin with Great Public Schools Now, an LA education reform nonprofit, as director of communications in September.
- Garrett Therolf says goodbye as the county government staff writer focusing on poverty.
- Anna M. Phillips joins Los Angeles Times as an education reporter. She moves from the Tampa Bay Times where she covered criminal justice and legal affairs for the past four years.
- Tania Ganguli moves into a sports staff role to cover professional basketball and the Los Angeles Lakers, acting as the replacement for Mike Bresnahan. Ganguli joins the team after covering the Houston Texans and football for ESPN’s NFL Nation.
