CisionScoop: The Weekly Standard has welcomed Haley Byrd as reporter covering Congress. Byrd was previously a Congressional reporter for the Independent Journal Review. The Weekly Standard serves as a forum for the expression of conservative political opinion, and analyzes political issues of concern including taxes, welfare reform, crime and drugs, health care and the national budget.
Christopher Stewart has been promoted to enterprise editor for finance at The Wall Street Journal. He will lead a team of reporters focusing on money and finance stories around the world. Stewart was previously a senior special writer at WSJ, and joined the paper in 2011 as the deputy media and marketing bureau chief. h/t Talking Biz News
In an effort to reorganize its newsroom, the Los Angeles Times is bringing on the following editors:
- Louise Story will join the paper as managing editor. She is currently the executive producer for Facebook Live at The New York Times, and has been with the daily since 2006.
- Sylvester Monroe is heading to the LA Times as assistant managing editor. He comes from The Washington Post, where he spent the last four years as Europe and South Asia editor.
- Bruce Upbin also joins the paper as assistant managing editor. He most recently served as the VP of Hyperloop One, and previously spent more than a decade at Forbes in various top editorial positions.
Saveur magazine has parted ways with Adam Sachs, the glossy’s editor in chief since 2014. Prior to that, he was the editorial director for Tasting Table, and had also written for bon appétit and Travel + Leisure. Saveur has also said goodbye to Dan Dao, the magazine’s deputy digital editor since 2016. Dao was previously the digital community editor for Time Out New York.
Zachary Kiesch has joined ABC News as a correspondent based in New York. He comes from WNYW-TV, FOX’s affiliate in New York, where he spent two years reporting on various important stories. Prior to that, he worked for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., and NBC’s Today.
WBZ-TV, Boston’s CBS affiliate, has parted ways with Nicole Jacobs. She has been a general assignment reporter since 2014, and mostly reported during the weekday morning broadcasts. Prior to WBZ-TV, Jacobs was a fill-in anchor for NECN, and a reporter for FOX’s WFXT-TV in Boston.
Christy Tanner has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of CBS News Online, and will oversee all business strategy and operations for CBS News Digital. Tanner joined CBS Interactive in 2013, and most recently served as the senior VP and GM for the network’s digital platforms.
E&E News has announced the departure of longtime editor in chief Kevin Braun, who was at the helm of all E&E Publishing publications since 1998. Replacing him as the top editor is Cyril Zaneski, who has been withe the company for more than a decade. Zaneski will continue his duties as Greenwire editor, a position he has held since 2004.
