In an effort to strengthen its investigations into the Trump administration and big money politics, the Center for Public Integrity has hired three political reporters:

  • Lateshia Beachum has moved to the federal politics reporting team as a full time reporter, and will focus on federal politics and government. She has been been with the Center since 2016, when she joined as a Kellogg investigative reporting fellow.
  • Ashley Balcerzak joins the Center full time in July as federal politics reporter. She was previously a money-in-politics reporter for the Center for Responsive Politics. Between 2015 and 2016 she was a reporting fellow for the Center’s state politics reporting team.
  • Sarah Kleiner, currently the enterprise editor for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, also joins the Center in July. Kleiner is a veteran reporter who has covered a variety of topics including state politics, city government, education, mental health, criminal justice, real estate and financial services. She has also worked for the Virginian-Pilot, the Abilene Reporter-News, and the Midland Reporter-Telegram.
