Christine Portela has joined Univision as the network’s director of news operations. She began her duties March 20 and is based in Miami.  In her new role, Portela works with Univision’s local news directors and executive producers in the planning and execution of group-wide news gathering and production initiatives; she will also play a lead role in coverage of breaking news. Portela previously served as senior producer for José Diaz Balart’s daily MSNBC show since 2014. Follow Univision on Twitter.
