As Texas Monthly magazine settles into new ownership, longtime editor in chief Brian Sweany is leaving his post, and Tim Taliaferro has been appointed executive vice president and editor in chief. Sweany had been with Texas Monthly for twenty years. He started with the magazine in 1996, briefly worked for D Magazine from June 2004 to July 2005, and then rejoined Texas Monthly in 2005. Taliaferro takes on his new position with the magazine on Dec. 19. He previously served as editor in chief of Alcalde, the alumni magazine for the University of Texas, since 2009.
