- Michael C. Bender and Damian Paletta joined the White House team after covering national politics and national security, respectively
- Reid Epstein and Janet Hook both took on a new beat covering the national political landscape, with an emphasis on the Democratic party
- Laura Meckler shifted focus to America’s changing demographics, including the on-going immigration debate
- Byron Tau moved to the Congress team after covering national politics and the election
- Naftali Bendavid now oversees health policy coverage and is joined by reporter Michelle Hackman
- Aruna Viswanatha now covers law enforcement, the Justice Department and the FBI
- Beth Reinhard shifted coverage to criminal justice, prisons and related topics
- Jon Hilsenrath, previously chief economics correspondent, was named global economics chief
- Becky Bowers was promoted to deputy global economics editor, reporting to Hilsenrath
- Mark H. Anderson now serves as deputy editor for financial regulation team
