Des Moines Register veteran Carol Hunter has been named executive editor, up from senior news director.  Hunter joined the staff in 2004 as editorial page editor. She replaces Amalie Nash, who was promoted by parent company Gannett to executive editor for the West Region. In addition to her role at the Register, Hunter will oversee Gannett/USA Today Network’s papers in the Plains Region as regional editor. Follow the Des Moines Register on Twitter.
