Northeastern Louisiana daily The News Star updated the top of its masthead following the retirement of general manager and executive editor Kathy Spurlock, who left the paper after more than two decades. She is succeeded by Jeff Gauger, who now serves as the new executive editor; he will also maintain his executive editor position at The Times in Shreveport, Louisiana. In addition, The News Star named Mark Henderson, the paper’s content coach, as the organization’s news director. Henderson has been with the daily since 1978. Follow The News Star on Twitter.
