Maudlyne Ihejirika just launched a new special project at the Sun-Times, “The Chicago Chronicles”, which tells inspiring stories of people and communities in Chicago. The new ongoing series of special reports focuses on African American and Hispanic communities and aims to inspire others. Ihejirka first joined the Sun-Times as a reporter in 1987, left 10 years later, and returned in 2003. She has held a multitude of roles including assistant city editor and a reporter on a variety of beats, most recently urban affairs. She released her first book, Escape From Nigeria: A Memoir of Faith, Love and War, in May of this year. Follow Chicago Sun-Times on Twitter.
