Cision Blog regrets to inform its readers that Captain Richard Thiel, editor at large for Power & Motoryacht magazine has passed away. In 1981, Thiel became Boating magazine’s technical editor and boat tester. In 1984, he worked with Yachting magazine briefly before he was hired as executive editor of Power & Motoryacht. He then moved onto the role of editor in chief for the magazine where he served from 1987 to 2012. Following that, he transitioned roles from editor in chief to editor at large where he continued to test boats and write for Power & Motoryacht and its website. Thiel also wrote a popular column for the magazine called “Power & Propulsion.”
