Robert J. Gruber has been named publisher of The Fayetteville Observer. He replaces Charles Broadwell in the role, following the sale of the family-owned Observer to GateHouse Media. The Observer has been family owned and locally operated for the past 93 years. Gruber was most recently publisher of sister GateHouse paper the Wilmington Star News, and previously the publisher of Florence Times Daily and Lake City Reporter.
