LA Weekly has added a new food editor to its ranks: Katherine Spiers. She previously worked for KCET-TV (Los Angeles), overseeing food and living content as managing editor. Before taking up this role in late 2014, Spiers was KCET’s food editor, launching the station’s online food vertical from scratch, in addition to launching a lifestyle, gardening and travel section. She joined KCET in 2011. Spiers has also freelanced for several food publications, including Serious Eats, Gourmet, Modern Farmer and Tasting Table, in addition to hosting the food anthropology podcast, How it Got in Your Mouth.
