CNN Digital has named S. Mitra Kalita vice president of programming, overseeing news alerts, special projects and mobile, among other platforms. She begins the role later this summer and will be based in New York. Kalita currently serves as managing editor at the Los Angeles Times, which she joined from Quartz in March 2015. Before that, she held a variety of editorial positions at The Wall Street Journal, including senior special writer, senior deputy editor of the paper’s Greater New York section, and deputy global economics editor. #GoThere with CNN on Twitter for breaking news headlines from around the globe.
