Veteran journalist Sam Davis is the new managing editor at The Baltimore Sun. He was most recently the paper’s assistant managing editor for news since May 2013, and has served in a multitude of roles over his long tenure of service at the Sun, which began in 1980 when he joined the staff as an editorial assistant. Davis quickly moved up through the sports department over two decades, serving as sports reporter, assistant sports editor, deputy sports editor, executive sports editor and assistant managing editor for sports from 1984 to 2004. He later served in several administrative roles, overseeing budget and administration, later overseeing Page One before his promotion to assistant managing editor.
