Candy Hatcher has announced her departure from The Virginian-Pilot after a decade of service. The veteran journalist is headed to Louisburg College to serve as communications director, ending a 34-year career in journalism. She first joined the Pilot in 2006, and has been a senior editor, forum editor and editorial writer. Before joining the Pilot, Hatcher worked for the Chicago Tribune, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The Palm Beach Post and the Wilmington Star-News.
