Veteran foreign correspondent Pamela Constable will be the next bureau chief for The Washington Post in Islamabad. She will take over in August for Tim Craig, who will be going on leave as a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in business journalism at Columbia University for the 2016 – 2017 school year. Constable has been covering immigration for the local desk, and will rejoin the foreign desk in June to prepare for the role. She has previously been South Asia bureau chief for WaPo, based in New Delhi, and has also served as bureau chief in Kabul since joining the paper in 1994. Prior to this, she was with The Boston Globe, served as deputy Washington bureau chief and also reported from Latin America, Korea, the Philippines and the former Soviet Union during her tenure.
