The Bay Area News Group has announced that it has hired Neil Chase as executive editor of The Mercury News, East Bay Express and the companies weeklies. Chase has served as a digital media consultant since 1993 and has also worked at The New York Times, MarketWatch, The Arizona Republic and San Francisco Examiner. He will start May 2.
