Up until his death, Charney hosted a New York public affairs television program “The Leon Charney Report.” Charney also bought and developed real estate properties in Manhattan, donated considerable amounts to hospitals and charities, and notably once helped President Jimmy Carter arrange secret talks to help end hostilities between Egypt and Israel in 1978.
