Jill Lawrence has announced her return to USA Today as commentary editor and editorial board member, starting Jan. 4. She was previously on staff from 1996 to 2011 as national political correspondent, and has more recently contributed commentary columns to the paper. Lawrence has served as managing editor for politics at the National Journal, and covered politics for the Associated Press, The Daily Beast and Politics Daily, among many other outlets.
