Amir Ahmed has been upped to senior vice president of news planning at Al Jazeera America. Ahmed had previously served as senior vice president of newsgathering for the network since April 2015. Heather Allan steps into the role of  senior vice president of newsgathering. She was previously the head of global newsgathering for Al Jazeera English since 2009 and before that, served as West Coast bureau chief for NBC News from 1998 to 2005.  For global news coverage, ‘Like” Al Jazeera America on Facebook.
