Several staffers have accepted buyouts at The News Journal in Wilmington Delaware. John Sweeney, Jeff Montgomery and Maureen Milford are among those to accept. Sweeney was most recently engagement editor for the paper since 2006, having originally joined the paper in 1989. Montgomery had been an investigative reporter in the paper’s Dover bureau, and Milford served as a business reporter covering development and real estate. Robin BrownBill McMichael and Cris Barrish have also accepted. Brown joined the paper in 1976 and was the longest serving member on the newspapers’ staff. She last served as a reporter covering local breaking news and crime. McMichael had served as a military reporter since he joined The News Journal in March 2012, and Barrish was a senior reporter covering investigations, originally joining the paper in 1981.
