The New York Times is assembling its A-Team as it gears up for 2016 election coverage adding Ian Trontz, Thomas Kaplan, Nick Corasaniti and Ashley Parker to its national politics team. Trontz, most recently deputy metro editor for enterprise, is now enterprise editor for politics. Kaplan will cover the elections from a policy perspective. He previously was a state house reporter at the Albany, New York bureau since 2010. Corasaniti becomes the paper’s first-ever digital campaign correspondent, primarily covering Republican candidates. He was previously a reporter and producer for NYT’s First Draft in Washington since 2014. Lastly, Parker’s coverage will focus on the media and messaging angle. She previously covered Congress.
