Derek Willis has announced he will join ProPublica next month as news applications developer covering politics. He currently writes for The New York Times’ The Upshot blog.

Willis joined The New York Times’ The Upshot blog as data reporter/blogger in March 2014, and joined the NYT in 2007 on the interactive news desk. Willis had previously worked on computer-assisted reporting projects involving campaign finance at The Center for Public Integrity. Before that, he was a reporter at Congressional Quarterly for five years, and began his journalism career at The Palm Beach (FL) Post.
