Jake Malooley has been named editor of the Chicago Reader, a position that has been open since Mara Shalhoup vacated it in January. Malooley joined the paper as managing editor in March 2014. Prior to joining the Reader, he served variously as a senior editor, front of book editor, and food & drink assistant for Time Out Chicago since 2006.
