Steve Gunn has left The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland, and will join The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia on June 8. He will serve as the publication’s top editor, succeeding Denis Finley who resigned in March. Rick Hutzell will replace Gunn as editor of The Capital Gazette and will also oversee Capital Gazette Newspapers which includes The Maryland Gazette. Hutzell was previously the assistant managing director for Capital Gazette Newspapers and has written a local politics column for The Capital Gazette since he joined the paper in 1987.
