TIME will welcome Philip Elliott as a correspondent in early May to cover the 2016 presidential campaigns and election. He is currently a national politics reporter for the Associate Press’ Washington bureau and covering education policy and the midterm elections. Prior to this, he covered numerous events under the Obama administration. He joined the news service in 2006. Before that he covered religion and culture for The Evansville Courier & Press in Indiana and education for The Marietta Times in Ohio.
