POLITICO has announced a number of promotions and hires. Joining the publication are Kate Bennett, Benton Ives, Charles Mahtesian, and Luiza Savage.
Bennett has been named gossip columnist, where she is slated to launch a column titled The KGB File. She was most recently the wedding and style editor for The Washingtonian and editor in chief for The Washingtonian MOM. Additionally, Ives has been named a Congress editor. He comes from CQ Weekly Report where he served as editor since March 2014. Ives will begin his new role mid-March. Also, Mahtesian will rejoin as senior politics editor. He served as national politics editor for POLITICO from 2008 – 2013, and most recently served as politics editor for NPR digital. Lastly, Savage is slated to join the publication mid-March as editorial director for events. She comes from Maclean’s where she served as Washington bureau chief.
As for promotions, assistant politics editor Nahal Toosi has been upped to foreign policy and national security reporter and national politics editor Mike Zapler has been named congressional editor.
