New Republic welcomes several new additions to its staff. Jamil Smith will join as a senior editor. He was previously a producer for MSNBC since July 2010. Additionally, Elspeth”Elle” Reeve will start her new role as a senior editor. She was previously a senior writer for First Look Media since June 2014. Prior to this, Reeve served as a politics editor for The Wire and The Atlantic since October 2010. Smith and Reeve will begin their new roles on January 26.

Also joining the staff is Bijan Stephen. He will serve as an associate editor starting on January 20. Stephen was previously an editorial assistant for Vanity Fair since May 2014. Lastly, Cathy Park Hong comes aboard as poetry editor starting in mid-January. She previously taught poetry at Sarah Lawrence College.
